Amsterdam News holds a special place in U.S. Labor history – the first time Black workers successfully organized against Black management – a powerful moment in 1935, laying the groundwork for Amsterdam News’ and the nation’s Black press’ critical role in the advancement of the U.S. Civil Rights. Research shows that the surest path to Black and Brown family prosperity is union membership.

With the historic candidacy of Kamala Harris for U.S. President and Tim Walz for U.S. Vice President – this breakfast offers a unique opportunity to showcase union power and importance to Amsterdam News’ Black and brown readers in New York City and nationwide.  Amsterdam News will be honoring labor leaders and unions for exceptional election organizing and impact at its acclaimed 10th Annual Labor Awards Breakfast “Union Politics & Power: Honoring Exceptional Election Organizing and Impact.”

Please join us in honoring New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento and New York City Central Labor Council AFL-CIO President Vincent Alvarez.
