The impact of unforeseen events, economic shifts, and AI and technological disruptions in our ever-changing world can be cushioned by tools like insurance, but limited penetration and coverage of such tools for ever-changing risks create a protection gap. Our fellow Dickson Wong, Director at Global Asia Insurance Partnership, spoke about how insurance solutions are designed for marginalized groups and how they address the protection gap during our session on "Building Resilient Communities: Insurance Solutions for Vulnerable Individuals and Communities." #SalzburgGlobal #BuildingResilience

“Conservation isn’t about protecting animals from people — it’s about empowering people to live with and benefit from wildlife.” In the latest episode of Conversation Changers, Salzburg Global President & CEO Martin Weiss speaks with Kaddu Kiwe Sebunya, CEO of the African Wildlife Foundation, about rethinking conservation. From Rwanda’s mountain gorillas to Africa’s youth-led movements, Kaddu makes a bold case: the future of our planet depends on Africa. He shares how people-centered, African-led approaches are transforming communities, driving economic opportunity, and reshaping the global sustainability agenda. 🎧 Listen now and be part of changing the conversation: https://lnkd.in/dzDwHvjh #ConversationChangers #Conservation #Sustainability #Africa #GlobalDialogue #WildlifeConservation

When people ask me, 'How was your week in Salzburg?' I just say, 'It was like a little pocket of the universe where everything was right, everyone was kind, and everything was possible.' I am humbled to even be considered to join a network that includes fellows like Stacey Abrams, Kofi Annan, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Ban Ki-moon, among many others. (I know I still don't believe it.) During this week, I had the honour of participating in the seminar “Beyond Fragmentation: Rebuilding Trust and Cohesion in European Democracy”. Together with 29 other fellows, we explored issues about trust in public institutions through the Policy Challenge. I was part of an amazing team composed of Amal A., Ianira Vieira, Faith Joy S. and Gabriel Bangura. While being guided and kept on track by the wonderful Nathan H.. The results of our project will be published later in the year! I want to thank all the people who inspired me with their words and stories during the week: first of all, the fellows who participated in the programme, and secondly, Deepali Fernandes Ph.D, Nathan H., Jim Shultz, José Linger, Noura Berrouba, Cathy-Mae Karelse, PhD, Helin Herlbauer, Travis Gidado, Daniel Sachs and John Lotherington. Finally, a huge thanks to the Salzburg Global team: Faye H., Surya HK, Audrey Plimpton, Iman Albertini, Yijin CHO, Dea Safira and Sneha M.. Thank you again for making this whole thing happen; your work doesn't go unnoticed! ❤️ 💫

A quick reflection of October in Oslo, Norway. Salzburg Global again provided us (the fellows) with an opportunity to take part in Diversify Summit 2025: Courage in Action held by Diversify. It was such a fulfilling experience to look at the leadership, AI, and policy from a different angle. My gratitude to all who made it happen. 💚 #SalzburgGlobal #PPNVE #PublicPolicy #DiversifySummit #Leadership

For the past few days, I had the privilege of participating in the "Reimagining Education: Global Citizenship, Pluralism, and Purpose in the 21st Century" program hosted by Salzburg Global, in partnership with organizations such as the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens, the TUI Care Foundation, the University of Calgary, and York University's UNESCO Chair. . We first worked through a series of modules on curriculum and pedagogy transformation; teacher and leadership capacity; equity and inclusion; innovation, technology & purpose; and system resilience and resources. . I especially enjoyed the full-day brainstorming session with my working group, specifically focused on a tangible actions we can take to not only transform education today but consider the post-2030 agenda. Wonderful to collaborate with Moira Faul, Christopher Lee, Yulia Mishkova, Dominic Regester, Charles Hopkins, Katrin Kohl, PhD, Gloria Figueroa, and Katerina-Eirini Lambrinou - and looking forward to future conversations and what is to come! . Thank you so much to Dominic Regester for the invitation and huge thanks to Valeriia Chernysh and Katalin Tolgyesi for all your work in bringing us together! And thank you to all the program participants for the wonderful conversations and exchanges - hope we meet again soon! . What happens when 30 people from around the world come together to brainstorm and work on solutions to complex issues in education? You get absolute magic. Wrapped up day 3 of the Salzburg Global Seminar with a clear action plan of how our working group are going to implement our solution to empowering young people to challenge power without risking their futures. I’ve come back home full of inspiration, energy and motivation, as well as having developed some amazing connections ❤️ Salzburg Global OECD - OCDE TUI Care Foundation

What does Europe need now? Young, brave, innovative minds willing not to simply be or inherit the future, but build it. Two weeks ago, I had the chance to experience exactly that spirit in Salzburg, through the Salzburg Global Public Policy New Voices Europe fellowship, supported by Squire Patton Boggs and The Walt Disney Company. Together with 29 other fellows, I explored rebuilding trust, cohesion, and inclusion in our democracies, tackling topics from migration and civic engagement to AI and media. Every conversation reminded me of Margaret Mead’s words: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” I left Salzburg: 1️⃣ Empowered by Jim Shultz’s advocacy teachings; 2️⃣ Grateful for Cathy-Mae Karelse, PhD’s sessions that fostered reflection and belonging; 3️⃣ Driven by my mentor Travis Gidado’s guidance, who is helping me grow both professionally and personally and teaching me to lead with courage; 4️⃣ Inspired by my fellow cohort members’ creativity and commitment, and by the many professionals I had the pleasure to meet, talk, and work with, including: José Linger, John Lotherington, Nathan H., Samuel S., Douglas Wake, Deepali Fernandes Ph.D, Daniel Sachs, Hedvig Morvai, Chris Philipsborn. All this was possible thanks to the incredible Salzburg Global team: Faye H., Surya HK, Iman Albertini, Yijin CHO, Dea Safira (and many others working behind the scenes). I’m ready to put what I’ve learned into practice and give back what I’ve received! #PPNV #democracy #leadership #publicpolicy #Europe
