The Airbus A321XLR is now flying out of Brisbane ✈️🎉 This week our brand new next-generation XLRs began flying between Brisbane and Sydney, adding to the Sydney-Melbourne & Sydney-Perth routes it already operates. Our XLRs offer an improved customer experience with wider seats and significantly more overhead baggage space. They're also much quieter than the previous generation aircraft they're replacing. And with a third XLR expected to arrive in the coming weeks, the largest fleet renewal program in our history continues.

Today we turn 105 years old. Since our humble beginnings in outback Queensland, where our founders and a single aircraft took a leap of faith, our story is defined by a pioneering spirit that’s helped connect millions of Australians to each other and the world. As we prepare for Project Sunrise and the next frontier of ultra long-haul travel, that same spirit is carrying us forward today. Here’s to 105 years of innovation and connection. To the people who’ve carried us this far, and to the adventures still ahead.

Qantas has a long history of being an aviation pioneer. Today we announced Adelaide will be home for our new Product Innovation Centre, creating more than 400 high-skilled technology roles in South Australia over the next three years. This new innovation hub will help accelerate how we use AI and technology to transform the customer experience for the millions who fly with us every year. We are also excited to be partnering with Adelaide University to build potential graduate recruitment pathways directly into the Centre. Thanks to the support of the South Australian Government, we look forward to opening its doors in March 2026.

Today at 11am, Senior Manager Aviation Safety Training, Sam, will pause and observe a minute's silence. It's something Sam has done every Remembrance Day since leaving the Royal Australian Air Force, where she spent 27 years flying C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster aircraft. "Remembrance Day is a moment to reflect on the cost of peace," Sam says. "It's important that current and future generations understand and learn from the sacrifices of the past." Sam's military career took her through leadership roles at tactical, operational and strategic levels. But it's the lessons from those years that really matter today. "In defence, I learned that when it comes to safety, we must train harder than we fight. That mindset carries through to my work at Qantas, by being uncompromising and unapologetic in how we manage risk." It's this philosophy that Sam brings to aviation safety training every day.

Over the weekend, thousands of our team members and their families came together in Sydney and Brisbane to celebrate the arrival of our Airbus A321XLR aircraft. These Family Days are a chance for our people to share their pride in what they do with the families who support them. From aircraft tours, meet and greets with our partners Surf Life Saving Australia and Assistance Dogs Australia, Airservices Australia’s Aviation Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) services, plus special performances from Emma Memma in Sydney, these events brought our Qantas community together. We now have two A321XLRs operating on our network, with our third aircraft arriving in the coming weeks. It's part of the largest fleet renewal program in our 105-year history, and our teams are the ones making it happen. Thank you to everyone who made these days possible, and to all the families who joined us to celebrate this next chapter.

Our first Airbus A350-1000ULR (Ultra Long Range) aircraft is now on the final assembly line in Toulouse! 😍 This marks a significant step in Project Sunrise, which will conquer the final frontier of long-haul travel with non-stop flights between Australia's east coast and London and New York. All key airframe components including the forward, centre and rear fuselage sections have come together, along with the wings, tail section, and landing gear now attached. This week the aircraft will be transferred to a new hangar where it will have engines and flight test instruments installed in preparation for an extensive test flight programme, commencing in 2026 ahead of delivery late next year. #LongRangeLeader
