Founded in Barcelona in 2013 and present in Spain, Italy and Portugal, Wallapop aims to create a unique inventory ecosystem of reused products that facilitates a more humane and sustainable consumption model. The platform connects 19 million users who visit it every month, who collectively create more than 100 million listings annually.     Since its launch in June, #MovimientoReÚsalo has been working to position reuse as the preferred form of consumption in Spain. Led by major players from across the reuse ecosystem including Wallapop, IKEA, Milanuncios, Vinted, NESI and AERESS, Movimiento Re-Úsalo emerges in response to the rise of ultra-fast consumption, and advocates for stronger public policies to promote reuse, fiscal incentives like eco-vouchers, and greater citizen awareness of the environmental and social benefits of extending the life of products.     A new chapter for Wallapop: accelerating our vision with NAVER I'm pleased to announce that the vast majority of our shareholders have approved NAVER Corp's offer to acquire Wallapop, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our company. Since being founded in Barcelona in 2013, Wallapop has experienced immense growth. We've built a vibrant community of 19 million people across Southern Europe who engage with us monthly, creating over 100 million listings each year of items they no longer use. This isn't just about transactions; it's about driving profound economic and environmental impact. Our community typically generates between €2 billion and €2.5 billion in sales annually and, in 2024 alone, buying and selling reused items through Wallapop helped save 467,000 tons of CO2, equivalent to taking every car off Barcelona's roads for six months. Our mission is clear: to make reusing the preferred choice for consumers in Southern Europe. We achieve this by fostering network effects and consistently integrating cutting-edge innovations. Today, we help users list items seamlessly and discover products with unprecedented personalization.   • A few weeks back, we wrapped up our Purpose Days & Summer Offsite 2025, a 2.5-day adventure that blended purpose, play, and connection. We kicked things off right here in Barcelona with an immersive "user hunt" around the city and then we got a firsthand look at solving real user pain points thanks to our customer service team opening their world to all employees! Next, it was off to the countryside for some “fresh” air and deeper reflection on our user experience involving user persona video-making contest, yoga flows, dance-offs, pool time, games, and a cool party under the stars. It was a powerful reminder of the passion, talent, and vibrant energy that makes Wallapop such a special place. We're not just building a platform; we're building connections, driving circular economy, and having a blast while doing it!   • We're excited to share our recent collaboration with #TheGreenWebFoundation who hosted a training for our Engineering team on digital carbon emissions. Together, we explored the environmental footprint of our digital infrastructure, learned about tools to track carbon emissions, and discussed ways to reduce our impact. As a company driven by the purpose of promoting more conscious ways of consuming, we believe sustainability should guide not just WHAT we enable through our platform, but HOW we build it. This session sparked valuable conversations across teams and reflects our ongoing commitment to embed sustainable practices into every layer of our work, from tech decisions to company culture.   • For #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, Antonella Scaravilli kindly shared her personal story. She delivered a powerful talk about her mental health struggles and the creative coping mechanisms she's developed. She's also followed up with an insightful #Medium post (link below), detailing how therapy, coding, and self-discovery were pivotal in rebuilding her confidence and sparking a renewed sense of curiosity and belonging in tech. Mental health challenges will affect one out of 2 employees over the course of their careers, it’s imperative we open up and normalise the dialogue on this topic. Thank you Antonella for doing so!     At Wallapop, the belief in empowering a more conscious way of consumption - creating economic opportunity for our community in a way that improves sustainability - has united and motivated our team from the very beginning.  Over the last few years we’ve turned these beliefs into facts through our La Red del Cambio study where we’ve rigorously quantified our impact.  The first few editions focused on the impact of reuse on sustainability, while this year’s fifth edition (with the support of ISDI) looks into the tangible value that the buying and selling of second-hand products brings to the domestic economy.  This comes at a crucial time, as global economic uncertainty continues to fuel financial anxiety for households. In this context, reusing is gaining new relevance. It is consolidating as a resilient, accessible, and local model—aligned with a society that demands conscious brands with clear values, positive impact, and a realistic approach to the new financial constraints faced by many households. Key findings from the study: - The reused market in Spain generates an annual volume of nearly €13 billion, equivalent to 0.86% of the national GDP. - Through selling used products and saving on second-hand purchases, each person generates an average of 1,112€ annually—comparable to an extra monthly salary, based on an average gross income of 20,767€ per year. - 65% of Spaniards say that reusing helps them reduce financial stress. In a time of global transformation, these figures show that reusing is not only part of a cultural shift, but is also having a real, measurable impact on household economies.
