Over ons

Founded in 2014 at Eindhoven University of Technology, Onmi was born out of a Master’s graduation project and PhD research within the Industrial Design faculty. What began as academic exploration quickly became a mission: to bring innovative research out of the lab and into people’s lives, helping them tackle health challenges in practical, meaningful ways. At Onmi, we embody the fusion of academic innovation and practical application. Our mission is clear — to harness technology that empowers people to take control of their habits and create lasting behaviour change, supporting healthier and more sustainable lives.

  • 🧑⚕️ From Research to FlexHabits Every innovation starts somewhere. For FlexHabits, that journey began with a PhD project by one of our founders: ❤️ ACTivatE (Advanced Cardiac-Health Transformation Ecosystem) — exploring how to better manage cardiovascular disease and create new approaches to lasting behaviour change. That work sparked years of collaboration with experts in European Commission funded projects: ❤️ Do CHANGE — developing a health ecosystem for integrated disease management for cardiovascular patients. 🥗 Preventomics — preventive personalised nutrition based on the potential of omics and behavioural flexibility. 🧠 COMFORTage — our current project, exploring new ways to support people living with early stages of dementia. Each project taught us something new about how people actually change. Now, with FlexHabits, we’re bringing all these insights together on a platform that is scalable, personalised, and ready to support individuals, teams, and communities. 👉 We’re excited to connect with researchers, clinicians, and organisations who want to join us in shaping the next chapter of behaviour change. #FlexHabits #BehaviourChange #DigitalHealth #AI #Innovation #EUresearch

  • 🌍 Where FlexHabits Can Make a Difference We believe FlexHabits can be applied in many contexts — but we can’t do everything at once. That’s why we’re starting with Learning & Development. L&D leaders face several challenges: providing high-quality learning programs, getting people to engage with content, and helping them put that learning into practice. That’s where FlexHabits can help. By combining behavioural science with AI, FlexHabits helps people: ✨ Break automatic habits — disrupting the routines that keep people from engaging with learning opportunities. ✨ Build adaptability — strengthening the flexibility needed to thrive in changing environments. ✨ Learn through doing — prompting small, real-world actions that drive reflection and growth. FlexHabits can be a powerful addition to existing L&D platforms — making learning stick through everyday behaviour change. 👉 We’re now reaching out to forward-thinking L&D professionals and organisations to explore how FlexHabits can help people learn, grow, and adapt — one small action at a time. #FlexHabits #BehaviourChange #Onmi #LearningAndDevelopment #LifelongLearning #AI #DigitalHealth

  • Designing for Behaviour Change — Without the Addiction Loop Designing a behaviour change program within an app creates an inherent tension. We’re competing for a scarce resource — attention — yet we only want just enough of it for someone to open the app, get their prompt, and then return to their real life and face-to-face interactions. Our goal with FlexHabits isn’t to hook people or keep them scrolling. It’s to help them act differently in small, meaningful ways. That means designing an experience that feels simple, intuitive, and genuinely engaging — not addictive. We’ve built FlexHabits around three design goals: ✨ Lower barriers — breaking goals into small, achievable steps and creating an intuitive interface. ✨ Keep momentum — celebrating progress through clear, motivating feedback loops. ✨ Stay engaging — making every prompt feel relevant, fresh, and sometimes even surprising. The result? An app that delivers behavioural science in a way people choose to use — because it empowers action, rather than consuming attention. 👉 In the coming weeks, we’ll share a first look at FlexHabits in action. #FlexHabits #BehaviourChange #Onmi #Design #DigitalHealth #AI

  • 🔄 From R&D to Scalable Impact Over the years, Onmi has built and tested multiple iterations of its FlexHabits behaviour change program through research and development projects. Together with psychologists, therapists, and medical experts, we created programs tailored to different target groups — and saw first-hand the impact they can make. The challenge? These programs were powerful, but difficult to scale. Now, we’re excited to share the next chapter: a new version of our platform that combines this foundation of behavioural science with the adaptability of AI. The result is a solution that is both scalable and personalisable — ready to support many more people on their journey of change. FlexHabits isn’t just the next step for us — it’s the beginning of something much bigger. 👉 We’re inviting early adopters to explore the platform with us. • 🔎 Behind the scenes of FlexHabits: Behavioural Science meets AI One of the foundations of FlexHabits is the Do Something Different methodology — a behaviour change approach developed by psychologists Karen Pine and Ben (C) Fletcher. The idea is simple but powerful: disrupt old habits with small, carefully designed actions, and people unlock the flexibility needed to change in meaningful ways. We’ve combined this methodology with the power of LLMs to create a platform that is: 🧠 Smarter — adapting behavioural prompts in real-time to fit each individual’s context. ⚡ More dynamic — generating endless variations of Do’s to keep change engaging and fresh. 🌍 Scalable — bringing personalised, science-backed behaviour change to thousands of people at once. FlexHabits isn’t just another digital program. It’s where behavioural science and AI come together to help people break routines, build new habits, and achieve lasting transformation. 👉 We’re now looking for early adopters — individuals and organisations ready to pioneer this new way of creating change. If you’d like to be among the first to experience FlexHabits, we’d love to hear from you. #FlexHabits #BehaviourChange #Onmi #AI #DigitalHealth #Innovation

  • 🔬 Why habits are so hard to change — and how to break them From a behavioural science perspective, most health messages and digital programs fail because of one simple truth: human behaviour is deeply habitual. Even when people understand the need to change, old patterns persist. Why? Research points to three powerful reasons: 1️⃣ Willpower is limited The brain automates decisions to save energy. Willpower depletes quickly, so relying on it rarely works. 2️⃣ Environments cue behaviour Our surroundings trigger habits automatically — a daily routine of sofa + tea = chocolate runs on autopilot. 3️⃣ The knowing–doing gap Our brains often initiate actions before we’re even conscious of them. That’s why simply “knowing” doesn’t translate into “doing.” 💡 This is where the Do Something Different (DSD) framework comes in. Instead of relying on willpower or information, DSD disrupts routines with small, surprising actions — called Do’s — that loosen the grip of entrenched habits. Over time, this builds behavioural flexibility — the ability to act differently in familiar situations. ✨ At Onmi, we’ve embedded this approach into FlexHabits, and combined it with generative AI to make the Do’s personalised, scalable, and engaging. 👉 FlexHabits isn’t just another program telling people what to do. It helps people do differently. #FlexHabits #BehaviourChange #DigitalHealth #AI #Onmi #BehaviouralScience

  • ❌ Why do most attempts at change fail? Because knowing does not equal doing. We all set goals — exercise more, stress less, be more productive — but the hardest part is turning good intentions into consistent action. Most digital programs treat this as an information problem. But the truth is: more information doesn’t create behaviour change. That’s the problem we set out to solve with FlexHabits. By combining behavioural science with adaptive AI, we’re building a platform that helps people: ✨ Break old habits ✨ Spark new routines ✨ Sustain meaningful change over time Real transformation isn’t about knowing more. It’s about doing something different. 👉 Follow along as we share how FlexHabits bridges the gap between intention and action. #FlexHabits #BehaviourChange #DigitalHealth #AI
