The new Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease is built on purpose, collaboration and community. It will be the first specialist MND centre in Yorkshire and will provide essential care and support for patients and their families. We acted as quantity surveyor and contract administrator from the start. By providing early cost advice, supporting the tender process and leading value engineering, we were able to keep the scheme on budget while maintaining high quality. We also delivered the whole life costing appraisal needed to support the centre’s BREEAM Excellent target. The project had a fixed budget, a changing design, and many stakeholders. We relied on continual collaboration and clear communication. We worked with the Trust to check all donated materials from regional suppliers and ensured they met the required standards. The result? A centre designed around dignity, care and support. It brings together specialist clinical spaces, family areas, a wellness garden and quiet reflection zones. With the support of more than 17,000 donors, the centre will bring comfort, dignity and hope to people living with MND across Yorkshire and beyond. An ageing population is reshaping healthcare demand. But if we get it right, it can work better for everyone. Better access. Smarter estates. Lower carbon. Less cost. Healthcare for an ageing population, without breaking the planet. That’s the focus of the latest Insight from the Sidara collaborative, co-authored by our Director of Sustainability, Adam Mactavish. As demand rises, the instinct is often to build more hospitals. But if we respond without rethinking where and how care is delivered, we risk locking in carbon, complexity and cost that future systems can’t sustain. We’re helping clients rethink what sustainable healthcare infrastructure can look like and how to deliver it with confidence. “It’s time to redesign where and how care is delivered, planning and building systems that work for people and the planet. The decisions we make today will shape both health and climate outcomes for decades.” — Adam Mactavish, Director of Sustainability, Currie & Brown “Infrastructure is a clinical enabler. Get the infrastructure strategy right, and you can improve access to healthcare, reduce pressure on hospitals, and cut emissions all at once.” — Helen Pickering, Global Healthcare Sector Lead, Currie & Brown Adam is sharing more on this topic at COP30 in Belém. We’ve launched our latest UK office in the heart of Liverpool. This strengthens our commitment to the North of England and the clients we support across the region. The new base brings us closer to organisations like Peel Ports, Liverpool John Moores University and University of Liverpool. It means we can deliver more value in infrastructure, healthcare, education and local government. It’s also a long-term investment in the region’s future. By combining global perspective with local insight, we help clients spot risks early, find solutions fast and make decisions with certainty. The Liverpool office joins our growing network across the Midlands and North. This includes recent expansion in Stockton-on-Tees and Birmingham. 60 charities. Hundreds of community voices. One shared goal, creating positive change across Aberdeen. Last month, Empower Aberdeen brought together local organisations, businesses, and residents to tackle key issues around housing, energy, wellbeing and employment. The event made it easier for people to access advice, resources and opportunities that make a real difference in their day-to-day lives, while giving charities, local authorities and businesses a platform to collaborate and share ideas for lasting impact. Brooke, Simon, Director commented, ‘Empower Aberdeen shows how collaboration across sectors can create real momentum for change. It’s inspiring to be part of something that makes a real difference to local communities when people come together with a shared purpose’. We’re continuing to look at opportunities in the future to support partnerships like this, ones that make a measurable difference in the places where we live and work. Watch the video recap here to see the inspiring impact this event had: https://lnkd.in/eKqQum36 #EmpowerAberdeen2025 #CommunityPartnerships #Construction

We’re helping to build KöTower, a new sustainable office in the heart of Düsseldorf. KöTower 106 CW GmbH & Co. KG is developing the project with Catella RE AG and WPV. It will replace a 1960s office with a new workplace built for today. Smart design, flexible layouts and green technology will make it efficient, modern and ready for the future. With its green façade, rooftop terraces and roof garden of more than 200 plant species, KöTower will set a higher standard for sustainable office space. Solar panels, heat pumps and low-energy systems will cut carbon and reduce running costs, while creating a healthier place to work. Certainty, from start to finish - we’re advising on every stage of the project, keeping it on time and on budget. Our goal is clear, to reach LEED Platinum certification. By spotting risks early and reducing disruption, we’ll keep the work moving. The result will be a building that helps businesses thrive and supports a more sustainable Düsseldorf.
