Pages briefly flash between dark/light theme when loading

Hi there - In this video I first refresh the homepage, then click to a different page on the site. In both cases the whole page briefly flashes dark/black:

Seems to happen in both Safari and Chrome.

I imagine there's a way to do dark/light site theming where the application of the (OS-synced, usually called "Auto"?) theme isn't delayed until after the page has already been rendered?
