While the shutdown has ended, the recovery for military families is just beginning. Families faced 43 days of missed pay, delayed healthcare, stalled moves, and halted training — impacts that go far beyond a paycheck. One in four military families already experiencing food insecurity fell even deeper into hardship as support services strained or stalled. These disruptions weaken military readiness, stability, and trust. We call on Congress to enact fiscal year budgets into law, but in the worst scenario where they do not, at least pass the Pay Our Troops Act to avoid the most dire consequences and ensure military families are never placed in this position again. At Blue Star Families, we ask America to Do Your Part for military and veteran families. Ford Motor Company has been answering that call for years. Last Friday, November 7th, Ford, TikTok, and Blue Star Families hosted the Proud to Honor benefit concert featuring top musical acts and TikTok creators. The event welcomed more than 300 service members, veterans, and their families — and was streamed LIVE on TikTok. In addition to Blue Star Families, the evening supported incredible partners — Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, Travis Manion Foundation, Camp Southern Ground, Team Rubicon, Guitars For Vets, Inc., and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation.
