🧠 Mental Health Monday: October brings shorter days—and that can affect mood. In the U.S., 12.1% of adults report frequent anxiety and 4.8% report persistent depression. As daylight shrinks, some of us feel seasonal shifts, too. What helps: • Prioritize sleep hygiene: consistent bed/wake times, morning light, fewer screens before bed 🌅📵 • Get daylight: even a short walk outside supports mood regulation 🚶♀️🍁 • Notice patterns: if your mood dips more this time of year, reach out—seasonal depression is treatable 🤝 You’re not alone. If you need support, talk to your healthcare provider or a trusted counselor. For local support options call Claxton Outpatient Behavioral Health Center at 315.713.5720 or Carthage Behavioral Health at 315.493. 3300. 🍼 October is SIDS Awareness Month — a time to raise awareness and share safe sleep practices that help protect our little ones. SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) is the sudden, unexplained death of a baby under 1 year old, often during sleep. While the exact cause is unknown, safe sleep practices can greatly reduce the risk. 💤 Remember the ABCs of Safe Sleep: A — Alone (baby sleeps in their own crib or bassinet) B — Back (always place baby on their back to sleep) C — Crib (use a firm, flat mattress with no pillows, blankets, or toys) Every parent deserves peace of mind and every baby deserves a safe night’s sleep. 💙 #SIDSPrevention #SafeSleep #SIDSawarenessmonth #NorthStarHealthAlliance
