When official data pauses, Dodge keeps the industry informed. With the U.S. Census Bureau unable to release its Construction Spending and Housing Starts data during the government shutdown, Dodge’s Economics team developed independent estimates of what the Census likely would have reported. Built on decades of trusted data, Dodge’s analysis helps maintain clarity and consistency when federal reporting is on hold. 📊 Read the full analysis from Chief Economist Eric Gaus: https://lnkd.in/gRi3ztS2 #ConstructionData #EconomicInsights #DodgeData #ConstructionSpending #HousingStarts

Total construction starts rose 3.1% in September, fueled by strong growth in data centers and other nonbuilding sectors, despite a sharp decline in utilities and lingering softness in single-family housing. “September construction starts data marks the third month of steady improvements...however, a 3% growth rate is just keeping up with inflation, and we need fourth quarter growth of 25% to match annual growth of 2024,” said Eric Gaus, Chief Economist at Dodge Construction Network. For more insights, watch below or click here to read the full report: https://lnkd.in/e8b92CNt Key Highlights: 🏗️ Nonresidential building jumped 11.9%—commercial up 21.2%, manufacturing up 45.2% 🚧 Nonbuilding starts fell 6.2%, dragged by utilities—but offset by highways, public works, and misc. (+116.5%) 🏘️ Residential starts grew 3.6%—multifamily up 6.4%, single-family up 1.7% #ConstructionStarts #ConstructionIndustry #DataCenters #NonbuildingStarts #MultifamilyHousing #CommercialStarts #InstitutionalStarts #EconomicTrends #DodgeConstructionNetwork #InfrastructureProjects
