  • Would you let artificial intelligence (AI) mow your lawn? File your taxes? Defend you in a trial? To help people answer these types of questions, GTRI researchers Moon Kim and Ethan Trewhitt co-developed SatisfAI, a serious tabletop and digital card game that encourages players to consider how much agency they are willing to share with AI-based systems to solve real-world problems. SatisfAI uses a player-judge mechanic to promote both introspection and consideration of the preferences of others, and asks players to indicate their preferred level of autonomy, from choices such as “No AI,” “Assistant,” and “Surrogate.” Originally supported by GTRI’s Independent Research and Development (IRAD) program between 2021 and 2023, the game has since been played by approximately 270 K-12 teachers and education professionals across Georgia. It has received enthusiastic feedback from educators, who value the meaningful conversations it sparks during and after gameplay. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eYQ9_ymF

  • The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) capped three days at the Association of the United States Army - AUSA 2025 Annual Meeting & Exposition by underscoring its role as the Army’s largest University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) and a trusted partner in the Army's modernization efforts. GTRI had a booth at the event. It was busy with visitors, which is what GTRI wanted, according to @paddyheiliger , GTRI’s Huntsville Field Office Manager. “Supporting the AUSA national meeting is essential for organizations like GTRI, especially given its unique standing as the Army's largest UARC,” Heiliger said. “The event underscored the strategic importance of GTRI's contributions to addressing the Army's operational challenges. Engaging directly with Army leadership enables a mutual understanding of critical capabilities and organizational goals, ensuring alignment in efforts to modernize and support the Army's mission.”

  • When future hypersonic vehicles are tested far above the Pacific Ocean, the telemetry signals they transmit will be captured by a new type of modular antenna system developed by the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in collaboration with prime contractor AV Known as Advanced Phased Array Antenna Technology (APAT), the system uses Radio Frequency System on Chip (RFSoC) technology to process the signals directly on the antenna’s elements, allowing multiple signals to be tracked simultaneously in different directions. Built for the Pentagon’s Test Resource Management Center (TRMC), APAT uses commercial-off-the-shelf components paired with bespoke antenna elements and a custom system architecture to create a novel system with unparalleled operational flexibility. It is believed to be the largest all-digital antenna system ever designed by GTRI, which has been developing and building antennas for more than 25 years. https://lnkd.in/e3BUkKm4
