After 16 years of compassionate leadership as House of Ruth Maryland's Executive Director, we bid a heartfelt farewell and congratulations to Executive Director Sandi Timmins as she enters retirement. Sandi spearheaded a capital campaign that brought House of Ruth Maryland's first public-facing building, our Community Engagement Center. She guided the creation of a nationally recognized curriculum based on House of Ruth Maryland’s Abuse Intervention Program, and worked to remove financial barriers to ensure all services provided by House of Ruth Maryland are free of charge for clients. We have begun a comprehensive search for our next Executive Director, with Board Member Marty Lattman filling the position in the interim to ensure a successful transition. You can read the full announcement at https://lnkd.in/e6FDMtci Congratulations on this new chapter, Sandi! 💜

It's never been easier to double your impact. Thanks to a generous donor, this year's donations to our first ever peer-to-peer campaign will be matched up to our $30,000 goal! Through the rest of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, each dollar extends twice as far. That goes the distance in a survivor's path to safety. The Gateway Project, an Abuse Intervention Program, is one of the ways House of Ruth Maryland is combatting intimate partner violence at its source. Contributing to this campaign invests in programs like this of prevention and transformation, building safer futures for survivors and our community as a whole. We're currently halfway to our goal, and you can be a force in standing with survivors by moving the needle a little further. Why wait? Make a difference now: https://lnkd.in/e5Cu9Z9c PS - You can start your own team, or choose a team on the page to support! #DVAM2025 #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth #SupportSurvivors

Meet Nia. She is a mother, an entrepreneur, a creative, and a survivor. After facing intimate partner violence in her relationship and connecting with House of Ruth Maryland, Nia planted seeds of hope that blossomed into something extraordinary: a successful floral design business and harmony with her former partner. Nia is now a member of the HRM Storytellers, a program equipping survivors with the tools to craft their stories into opportunities of advocacy and growth. She shares her experience as a testament that even in darkness, cracks of light can break through that allow the unexpected to bloom. If you want to be a part of empowering survivors to turn the page in their own stories, visit hruth.org/dvam. Follow the same link to hear Nia’s full story. "He's actually a nice guy." "When she's not in one of her moods, she treats me like I'm the only person in the world." Abuse isn't always overt. Signs of an unhealthy relationship can come in little remarks that put down your accomplishments, minimize your voice, or make you question your own memory. Speaking about your partner shouldn't have to come with a caveat, and your love shouldn't hurt. #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth #DVAM2025 #UnhealthyRelationshipSigns #WarningSigns #StandwithSurvivors

Six days until Fill the House! In it's 9th year, this all-day donation drive means stability, comfort, and the opportunity to heal for survivors. We'll be collecting everything from bedsheets to deodorant: items that will replenish our donation center to ensure those seeking our services have what they need. When survivors flee, they often don't have much more than the clothes on their backs. This drive helps provide the things that we all want and need to make us feel cared for as humans. Join us in driving impact! Get all the info here: https://lnkd.in/gDCu-vA A huge thank you to our community partners that make this event happen each year: WMAR-TV, Weis Markets and Von Paris Moving and Storage #DVAM2025 #FillTheHouse #SupportSurvivors
