  • NorthWestern Energy recently partnered with the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Butte, Montana, to help restore the original entrance to the Orphan Girl Mine—also known as the “strike gate”—at the World Museum of Mining. This historic structure once regulated the flow of workers into the mine yard and remains a powerful symbol of Butte’s rich mining legacy. After decades of exposure to Montana’s weather, the gate’s wooden supports had deteriorated significantly. The Ancient Order of Hibernians reached out to NorthWestern Energy for assistance, and we were honored to support the restoration effort. Our crew installed two large posts to reinforce the gate, helping ensure it stands strong for generations to come. One member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians shared: “The professionalism and precision work of this crew was perfect—they and NorthWestern are an asset to the community.” We’re proud to help preserve local history and support the communities we serve.

  • "In Montana, where agriculture and open landscapes meet the power grid, we all share a responsibility to stay safe around powerlines," said Carolyn Loos, NorthWestern Energy Director of Safety and Labor Relations. "By staying alert and keeping farm equipment clear of overhead lines, we’re not just protecting ourselves—we’re looking out for our neighbors, our crews, and our communities. Safety is something we all contribute to, together." Read more from Rural Montana October 2025 issue: 🔗https://nwe.app/46V9qnT

  • Powering our communities starts with lending a helping hand. When Wayne Marshall from the Southwest Montana Detachment 724 - Marine Corps League stopped by our Butte Customer Service Office, he told Leslie Given, Customer Associate at NorthWestern Energy, that the Marine Corps League needed some help. Our team stepped up. Wayne shared that the rope and flag, at their meeting place, The Hooch, dislodged from the flagpole. The American and Marine Corps League flags were no longer flying. Wayne requested that a linemen stop by and string the rope back through the top of the pole. Leslie connected with NorthWestern Energy's Butte team, including Division Manager Bandi Sparks, Operations Planning Supervisor Tanner Reynolds, Electric Supervisor Cory Farstveet, and Journeyman Lineman CJ Fulton. We were honored to assist. Thank you to the Southwest Montana Detachment 724 - Marine Corps League for all you do to support our communities. ❤️
