When we learned that SNAP benefits were being postponed, our One City Schools preschool staff came together without hesitation. They gathered food, set up a pantry table, and made sure families had what they needed. This is what community looks like. Caring for one another, showing up, and finding small ways to make a big difference. We are so grateful for our preschool team and the love they pour into our families every day. 💛

Educational equity advocates: A critical moment demands immediate action. This Saturday's BPSADC Black Parents Summit (Sept 20, 12-3 PM, Madison College) addresses the urgent reality facing Black students as DEI support systems are dismantled across educational institutions. Recent data reveals Wisconsin's devastating achievement gap: only 5.8% of Black students meet college readiness standards vs. 58.9% of White students. With traditional pathways to opportunity being eliminated, academic preparation becomes the sole pathway to success. Panelists include: Dr. Joe Gothard, MMSD Superintendent La Tasha D. Fields, MATC Adult Basic Education Instructor Kaleem Caire, Founder & CEO, One City Schools Dr. Erika C. Bullock, UW-Madison School of Education For Black professionals, parents, and community leaders: Your participation shapes the next generation's opportunities. RSVP: https://lnkd.in/gknSHC_W #EducationalEquity #BlackEducation #MadisonWI #ParentEngagement Why This Matters Now More Than Ever: The attached research documents paint a stark picture. With only 5-10 Black students statewide academically prepared for UW-Madison admission each year, and federal mandates eliminating DEI programs, we face an educational crisis that demands immediate, strategic response. This summit isn't just about sharing information - it's about equipping parents with tools to help their children succeed in an increasingly challenging landscape where merit-based competition will be the primary pathway to opportunity. Please share this information widely and urgently. Our children's futures depend on our collective action today.
