When you think of a correctional facility, you likely don't think of cute, fuzzy puppies. But, for many prisons across the country, puppies are among the inmates in their care. Earlier this month, Can Do Canines Assistance Dogs welcomed a group of donors to join them for a tour at the Jackson Correctional Facility in Wisconsin to visit their 'T-liter' of Labrador Retriever puppies. The #PattersonFoundation proudly sponsored the T-liter at their birth, and has been a partner of Can Do Canines for several years. "I had the opportunity to not only witness a training session with these dogs, but also spend quality time with the inmate handlers to learn about the value of this program, both for them and for the organization," says program officer, Allie Krug, who attended the tour in October. "It's a win-win. Can Do Canines has willing-and-able individuals who can dedicate their time to the effort of training future assistance dogs. And inmates benefit by learning new skills and the profound responsibility of caring for another being." To date, the Patterson Foundation has invested over $100,000 in prison programs for assistance dog organizations across the country.

Today, and every day, we are filled with gratitude for all those who have served in the United States military. This past summer, we launched the Military Alliance of Patterson, an affinity group created to provide a support system specifically for Patterson veterans. The group uplifts the military community by connecting them with other veterans through a network rooted in service, leadership and resilience. The group is made up not only of military veterans, but also military spouses and families. Thank you to our Patterson veterans who continue to share their stories with us, offering a deeply personal perspective on what it means to serve your country, and thank you again to all veterans throughout our nation. 🇺🇸 #VeteransDay #Gratitude

Conni Jones, customer service representative with our Denver, Colorado dental branch, recently volunteered with Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) pop-up dental care – a 125-chair clinic held once a year for the community, providing dental services to people who cannot afford or access care. This year’s event saw over 1,000 patients treated in two days. Many members of our Denver team make it an annual tradition to volunteer with COMOM, with some, like Conni, doing so for the past 12 years! “I got involved in 2013 because there were other customer service representatives here who were deeply involved, so they brought me along, and my husband and I have been hooked ever since.” To keep the mood light, Conni’s husband dresses up as a mascot every year. This year, he was a bumblebee. “We want to show little ones that it’s not scary to come to the dentist, it’s fun!” This year, the #PattersonFoundation has donated $20,500 to five Mission of Mercy events across the United States.

The #PattersonFoundation is committed to investing in programs that strengthen our communities. Focusing on nonprofits that expand access to dental care, nonprofits whose dogs help veterans and people with disabilities, and funding that supports nine FFA state organizations, allows us to make a positive difference in the industries we serve. We are proud to share that we have recently awarded 25 excellent organizations with $211,000 through our Q3 grantmaking efforts. We look forward to partnering with these groups and witnessing their positive momentum in the pursuit of each of their compelling missions! 

One of our company values is “Always Advancing,” which is why in addition to our “Fulfillment Center of the Year” award, we honor a “Most Improved Fulfillment Center.” This award goes to an FC that has put in substantial effort and grit throughout the previous year. This year’s winner is from the sunny state of Florida: Our Jacksonville, Florida location! Team Jacksonville improved in several key areas, including quality to the customer, inventory control, and write-offs. Operations Manager Michael Millan says his team takes challenges head-on, using them as opportunities to grow. “Our approach has always been to take care of the customer, and of each other. It’s one of many reasons I’m proud to work here.
