  • Powering the digital future, today. PGE is pioneering a new approach to grid flexibility — one that uses AI-powered modeling and battery storage to meet growing demand faster and more affordably. Working with GridCARE, we identified ways to bring 80 MW of new data center load online in Hillsboro — years sooner than would be possible through traditional grid upgrades. A key part of that success comes from our partners at Aligned Data Centers and Calibrant Energy, who are deploying a 31 MW / 62 MWh battery system that helps balance demand, increase resilience, and keep costs lower for all customers. This first-of-its-kind collaboration shows what’s possible when utilities, innovators, and industry work together to modernize the grid — with clean, flexible, reliable energy at the center. • Building pathways from classroom to energy careers - one student at a time! 💡 Thank you to Aloha High School for hosting more than 35 members of the Oregon Clean Energy Workforce Coalition and PGE's Transportation Electrification and Fleet teams from across the state to showcase the school’s auto tech program. The visit served as inspiration for the co-design of Career Technical Education pilot modules in energy for 9-12th grade students that are currently in development. We're excited about the work ahead with our Coalition partners to support youth in finding their dream job in Oregon

  • Thank you to POIC (Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center) for an inspiring night of connection and community at this year’s POIC Annual Gala! What a meaningful way to spend the evening sharing powerful stories and raising necessary funds, especially at a time when our most vulnerable communities need us most. PGE is proud of our long-standing partnership with POIC and their work to support youth, education, employment and training, community safety and family wellness. We appreciate the important work POIC does every day!

  • Philanthropy means showing up for one another. At PGE and the PGE Foundation, we believe it’s about connection, compassion and creating moments of hope that ripple through our communities. We’re honored to be recognized among the Top 10 philanthropic companies in the Portland area who are working to lift spirits, strengthen bonds and make a difference where it matters most. Thank you, Portland Business Journal, for this honor and congratulations to all the businesses who were recognized at this year’s Portland Business Journal, Corporate Philanthropy Awards.

  • Reliable power keeps our community running. The Harborton Reliability Project strengthens the grid to meet growing energy needs — ensuring fewer outages and dependable service for years to come. When planning this critical work, we studied more than 20 different solutions. The facts are clear: this work must happen in the existing Forest Park right-of-way, where the problem exists, to keep the lights on in NW Portland.

  • Innovation in action — and recognition to match. Portland General Electric has been named the 2025 Nikola Tesla Top Innovator in Artificial Intelligence by Public Utilities Fortnightly for our AI-powered Purchase Order Audit Bot. This tool now reviews every procurement transaction monthly with 95% accuracy — turning a manual, time-consuming process into a fully automated system that improves accuracy, strengthens controls and helps keep customer bills as low as possible. Congratulations to Hema Sundaram, Veda Dharmala, Doug Lazar, Thana Anderson and Manoj Kumar for leading this work. At PGE, innovation is about finding smarter ways to serve Oregonians with safe, reliable and affordable energy.

  • In a recent KGW-TV Good Energy segment, PGE’s battery energy storage project was highlighted as a key tool in Oregon’s transition to a cleaner, more flexible grid. We’ve energized four new battery facilities capable of storing and dispatching 475 MW of power — enough to serve over 300,000 homes for four hours. These batteries help us capture excess renewable energy and deliver it when customers need it most — during evenings, peak heat, or storm-related outages. It’s a smarter, more sustainable way to keep Oregon powered.
