Matt, a proud member of Team Troon, captured his third DP World Tour Championship title after a dramatic playoff victory over Rory. His bogey-free final round of 66 secured an 18-under finish and capped a remarkable comeback year. Rory, a longtime Troon supporter and investor, delivered his trademark brilliance with an eagle on the 72nd hole to force the playoff—and while he narrowly missed the tournament win, he claimed his seventh Race to Dubai crown (and fourth consecutive), moving within one of Colin Montgomerie’s all-time record. Maui junior golfers enjoyed a chance to play the Kapalua Plantation Golf Course a day before the course reopens on Nov. 10, 2025. The course has been closed since Sept. 2, 2025. The event hosted approximately 48 golfers aged 10 - 17. Kapalua Golf General Manager Alex Nakajima presented a check totaling $117,000 to the representatives of Lahaina Junior Golf, Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association/First Tee of Hawai‘i, and Maui Junior Golf to support their missions. This comes from funds donated by Mr. Tadashi Yanai, President of TY Management and owner of Kapalua Golf. Former U.S. Amateur Champion and current PGA TOUR professional Matt Kuchar recently hosted a junior clinic at Parkland Golf & Country Club in Parkland, Florida. During the hour-long clinic held on October 15,Kuchar offered Parkland Golf & Country Club juniors valuable insights into the mindset and work ethic required to achieve success on and off the course, encouraging juniors to stay patient, practice purposefully, and always enjoy the game. Over a dozen junior golfers and their parents attended the clinic at which Kuchar shared how he got started in golf – from his early days and collegiate career at Georgia Tech to winning the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1997 and earning an invitation to The Masters tournament, where he played alongside Tiger Woods. After his talk, Kuchar gave a short-game demonstration, revealing some of his favorite chipping techniques, including a few clever tricks using a 9-iron and a hybrid. Rio Verde Country Club Women’s Golf Association (WGA), together with the Rio Verde Niners, proudly continues its longstanding commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking through the annual Sojourner Center Charity Event, returning March 3, 2026. Each year, this event brings together members of the Rio Verde community for a day of golf, camaraderie, and purpose, all in support of Sojourner Center’s mission to help women and families transition from crisis to stability. In 2024, the event raised more than $52,000 for Sojourner Center, continuing a tradition of strong community impact that spans many years. That enduring partnership was recognized with the Stewart Lazar Community Award, honoring organizations that have made a lasting difference for survivors of abuse in Arizona. Saltleaf Golf Preserve, a public/daily-fee club in Bonita Springs, Fla. recently welcomed David Kent, PGA as the property’s new general manager. Kent will oversee all elements of Saltleaf Golf Preserve, including golf operations, agronomy, food and beverage, and sales/marketing. Kent has 23-plus years of golf and club industry experience in Southwest Florida. After competing as a touring professional from 1998 through 2002, he segued into the golf and country club space. He served as a golf professional for the first 10 years of his club career before moving into general manager positions for the last 13 years. “I enjoy all facets of club operations and am enthusiastic about delivering exceptional experiences for the team and all who visit Saltleaf Golf Preserve,” said Kent. “I am eager to collaborate, develop and elevate the experience at Saltleaf to become a beacon of excellence in Southwest Florida.
