More sustainable flying has just taken off. ✈️ We’re proud to be the first airline worldwide to operate a new Boeing 787-9 (D-ABPT) powered by the updated Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 XE engine – setting new standards in durability, efficiency and sustainability. Next-generation aircraft with advanced engine technology are currently the biggest lever for more sustainable flying. Our newest fleet members consume up to 30% less fuel and emit significantly less CO₂ than their predecessors. With more than 230 new-generation aircraft on order, including 100 long-haul jets, the Lufthansa Group continues to invest in premium quality, cost efficiency, and emission reduction.

The Most Superior Aircraft To Replace The Boeing 757 On Transatlantic Routes https://lnkd.in/g2T_akXb The Boeing 757 once played a vital role in global aviation, bridging the gap between small narrow-body and large wide-body jets. Its impressive power, range of up to 7,200 km, and medium passenger capacity made it perfect for transatlantic routes connecting smaller U.S. and European cities that couldn’t justify larger aircraft. For years, the 757 symbolized efficiency and flexibility, capable of operating from short runways and in challenging weather conditions. However, with rising maintenance costs, aging airframes, and outdated fuel technology, airlines gradually began phasing it out in favor of newer, more efficient aircraft. After Boeing discontinued 757 production in 2004 without offering a direct successor, Airbus stepped in to fill the gap. The European manufacturer introduced the A321LR and A321XLR — advanced members of the A320neo family — designed to deliver up to 30% lower fuel burn per seat, quieter operation, and longer range. These new aircraft can fly nearly 8,700 km, allowing airlines like United Airlines, American Airlines, and Icelandair to launch nonstop flights between secondary cities across the Atlantic. Their design meets the aviation industry’s growing demand for sustainability and cost efficiency while maintaining high passenger comfort. Although the A321LR and XLR cannot completely replicate the raw power and cargo capacity of the Boeing 757, they have extended its legacy into a new era.
