Catering as a Culture Engine... Are You Using It? In many organisations, catering has long been treated as a simple function. The task is to provide food, ensure delivery, and move on... I believe this view is outdated and incomplete. The future of workplace catering is not about filling plates. It is about reflecting identity, supporting diversity, and strengthening workplace culture. In the next decade, I believe corporate catering will mean three things. → First, it will mean menus that represent the identities of the workforce. → Second, it will mean inclusive service where dietary needs are recognised and welcomed without issue. → Third, it will mean experiences that transform food into a driver of culture and belonging. At Sweet Dee's Jerk, we are already shaping this future... We are creating events that bring colleagues together, support employee resource groups, and celebrate heritage and inclusion through food. I am curious to hear your view. Do you believe catering has a greater role to play in shaping workplace culture? #ThoughtLeadership #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceCulture #DiversityAndInclusion #EmployeeEngagement #SweetDeesJerk

The invite arrives into your calendar. Team pizzas for those in the office on Friday. My mood dips. What was once a favourite is now a distant memory with a dairy allergen. Which makes me think, are we truly inclusive around food in the office? 🍕🥗 Food is often at the heart of workplace culture and certainly at my heart – it brings teams together, sparks connections, and creates shared moments beyond work tasks. The snack bag delivery for my team each week filled with chocolate, nuts and fruit is raided like people have never eaten! But how inclusive are we really being when it comes to food choices at the office? Think about the usual pizza lunches 🍕. Delicious for many, but what about colleagues with allergens or dietary restrictions? Or breakfast butties - the vegetarian options can sometimes be an afterthought - do we really need scrambled egg (or scrambled chickpea) sandwiches in our lives. Could these everyday food rituals unintentionally exclude some team members? Here’s how we can move towards more inclusive food culture at work: 🗣️: Instead of defaulting to pizza or sandwiches, get input on dietary preferences and cultural backgrounds. Who loves dim sum? Who needs gluten-free options? We live in an age where food options are plentiful. Let's be a bit more adventurous. 🌍: Encourage team members to bring dishes that represent their heritage, turning meals into cultural sharing moments. At PwC UK we have done cultural showcases were all bring cuisines and share. A great way to learn and interact with our colleagues. 🍴: Design welcoming kitchen or dining areas that invite people to connect over food, fostering community naturally. Food isn't just fuel; it's a powerful tool to build belonging and respect at work. ❓ How inclusive is your office food culture? What changes could you make to ensure everyone feels seen and valued at the table? #Inclusion #WorkplaceCulture #FoodAtWork #EmployeeEngagement #DiversityAndInclusion

💶🍽️ The €3 Billion Lunch Challenge: Why Belgium's Office Catering Market Is Leaving Employees Hungry for Better 📊 The Insight It’s a tale of massive untapped potential: Belgium’s workplace catering market currently captures only a fifth of its consumer spending potential. Despite a theoretical addressable market of over €3 billion. 🎯 Why It Matters ? The traditional company canteen is losing ground. It’s time for a fresh approach. 👉 For operators, there’s space to innovate with smarter pricing, better quality, and flexible formats. For employers, a golden chance to re-engage employees onsite and boost satisfaction. For suppliers and food brands, new partnership opportunities are bubbling up across every touchpoint, from snacks to take-home dinners. 🃏 The table is set. But most of the seats are still empty. 🌶️ Ditch the buffet: it's time to serve strategy The future of #workplace catering is not about filling a canteen; it's about integrating #food as an essential, high-value service. This challenge is a mandate for reinvention. This means: - mastering menu engineering to deliver high perceived value (average ticket value is only 6€!) - targeting the massive SME market with flexible, modular solutions (e.g., smart fridges, digital ordering) - expanding the meal occasion beyond lunch to capture breakfast, snacks, and even take-home dinners Stakeholders must pivot from a purely cost-driven model to a value-first, tech-enabled strategy.
