From Gaston to Lincoln to Iredell County, this project reinforces critical natural gas infrastructure across rapidly growing communities in North Carolina. Driven by DOT safety requirements and class location changes from new neighborhoods and increased housing density, our team replaced nearly 12,000 feet of 30–36" pipeline across five segments, including a railroad bore requiring specialized coordination with CSX. Every mile replaced strengthens system integrity, supports future growth, and ensures energy reliability for the communities we serve. Watch the video to see the scale of the work and the crews making it happen! #NaturalGas #PipelineReplacement #EnergyInfrastructure #NorthCarolina #SafetyAndReliability

When You Don’t Know What’s Below — It Can Cost You Millions Windstream’s recent lawsuit against Black Hills Energy over damage to a Lincoln building is a powerful reminder: Not knowing, or relying on inaccurate data, about buried utilities isn’t just inconvenient. It’s costly, dangerous, and avoidable. Every year, billions are lost to strikes that could have been prevented with accurate underground mapping. The risks go far beyond property damage, they threaten workers, the public, and the environment. That’s why PointMan exist, to give construction crews, engineers, and utility owners precise, real-time visibility of what’s underground before the first shovel hits the soil. Because every line you can’t see could be the one that costs you. ⚡Building resilience beneath the streets of San Francisco. ⚡ The Martin to Hunters Point Underground Transmission Project, delivered for Pacific Gas & Electric Company, spans 5.1 miles and strengthens the city’s electric grid. Crews navigated seismic zones, Naturally Occurring Asbestos, and a maze of urban infrastructure to complete this critical upgrade. Black & Veatch teams worked closely with the community and local agencies to minimize disruptions and protect the environment throughout construction. The result is a more reliable and flexible power system for San Francisco. Big news for Southwest Louisiana! With final federal approval, the Black Bayou Project can move forward in Cameron and Calcasieu parishes and build underground “salt dome” storage for natural gas. Think of it like a giant battery for energy: we can store gas when supply is high and draw on it quickly during cold snaps, hurricanes, or peak demand to help keep prices steadier. The site sits near our LNG facilities and major pipelines, and it’s being designed to handle more than gas in the future, keeping Louisiana a key player in global energy. Construction on the new Leland Olds Station substation is drawing to a close. The facility is one of Basin Electric’s largest substations, with room for future expansion. Located near Stanton, North Dakota, the size of the 19.5-acre substation is directly correlated to the number of connected transmission lines. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gW_A2C9D

Two competing pipeline proposals would increase Appalachian natural gas flows to southern Virginia and North Carolina, helping fuel data center development, according to Research Fellow Julia Stone’s latest blog. If either project is granted federal approval, hefty infrastructure costs could be passed on to ratepayers. https://lnkd.in/e3Ji6R-A

Public power utilities are enhancing grid resilience through reinforcing their infrastructure against stressors and natural disasters while building energy independence. I had the privilege of speaking with Darren Buck and Zachary Borton from Platte River Power Authority, Scott Lesch from City of Riverside, and Gary Hennigh from King Cove, Alaska for the latest issue of the American Public Power Association (APPA) magazine about how their utilities are advancing projects ranging from wildfire preparedness to local hydro generation, all with an eye towards ensuring they continue providing the best possible service to their communities. #PublicPower #GridResilience https://lnkd.in/e2P5jteH

National Grid is expanding its Riverhead compressed natural gas facility to more than double its capacity, enhancing the region's ability to meet peak winter demand. The upgrade includes removing old buildings, adding a new control building, and increasing tanker injection capacity from 11 to 24 trucks. This expansion supports reliability on Long Island’s East End, even with future pipeline projects planned. - Capacity will increase to handle up to 24 tanker trucks simultaneously. - The project is part of a state-approved plan to improve gas supply during coldest days. - Compressed natural gas facilities remain crucial backup despite proposed pipeline enhancements. This expansion ensures more reliable natural gas service for Long Island residents during peak demand periods. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dHPxNjSs #PRESWERX #NewYorkConstruction
