🥁 Can AI Make Music Production Faster? HiQ joined Stockholm MLOps to explore how machine learning can transform the creative process in music production. Arthur Öhman, MSc student in Machine Learning at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and trainee at HiQ, presents a practical and research-driven deep dive into automatic drum transcription — turning raw audio into musical notation. In collaboration with Excellent Audio, Arthur developed a hybrid, interpretable, and efficient model combining Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF), sigmoidal deconvolution, and CNN-based classification to enable a drag-and-drop workflow where musicians can convert drum audio to MIDI in real-time. He also discusses the motivation, model architecture, and trade-offs between speed and accuracy, along with broader applications in signal processing, EEG/MRI analysis, and anomaly detection — showing how ML bridges research and creativity. 🎥 Watch the full talk here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJTHyEaF This talk was recorded by our partner AI Sweden 🎬 — helping us share the incredible work happening in Sweden’s MLOps community. #StockholmMLOps #AI #MachineLearning #MusicTech #CreativeAI #SignalProcessing #Community #HiQ #KTH

Universal Music Group has announced a partnership with Stability AI to develop next-generation, responsibly trained AI tools for professional music creation. The collaboration will bring UMG artists, producers, and songwriters directly into the development process, ensuring that new AI-powered composition and recording tools are built around real creative needs and trained on licensed, commercially safe data. As the industry embraces AI, this move also reinforces a broader truth: AI tools are only as strong as the data they rely on. Clean, standardized metadata will be essential to ensure that AI-generated content supports accurate attribution and fair compensation. 👉 Learn more about the foundations enabling responsible AI in music in Doron Fagelson’s article: https://lnkd.in/dDyJ2DXr #DataArt #DataArtMedia #MusicBusiness #AI #MusicInnovation #GenerativeAI #CreativeTech #UMG

AI innovation is transforming the music landscape, expanding creative access while intensifying debates around originality and ownership. OpenAI is reportedly developing a tool that can create music from text or audio prompts, allowing users to add soundtracks to videos or generate instrumental accompaniments. If confirmed, this would position OpenAI alongside platforms like Suno and Udio, which have drawn both excitement and controversy over their AI-generated tracks and copyright implications. 👉 Explore how generative AI impacts music creation and creativity in this article by Doron Fagelson, SVP at DataArt Media & Entertainment: https://lnkd.in/ePmvHxST #DataArt #DataArtMedia #AI #GenerativeAI #MusicTech #Innovation #OpenAI #Suno #Udio #MediaAndEntertainment

One of the cooler things to have happened to me on the internet: a music professor used an open-source AI tool of mine for his research! The tool is called ai-choir (https://lnkd.in/eyPKJ7Cp). It utilizes so-vits-svc models to transform singular vocal recordings into choirs, which a Dr. Ross Purves used to recreate Victorian-era hymns as a demonstration of reviving heritage and traditional music with AI. This brought me so much joy - being an artist and AI enthusiast myself, seeing one of my projects be used in such a thoughtful way gave me renewed optimism for the intersection of art and AI. The paper itself is a super interesting mix of music, history, technology, and ethics, and includes the final recordings as well - definitely worth a peek if you’re looking for some niche content to scratch your scrolling itch! https://lnkd.in/e66hCM6g

"That was a very, very good use of an AI tool that just saved me a lot of time and a quick turnaround." – Yung Spielburg Yung Spielburg shares a practical application of AI in music composition, specifically for generating big band cues on a tight deadline. He emphasizes that while AI assisted in the creative process, a human was still crucial for charting, arranging, and directing the band. This highlights AI's role as a powerful time-saving tool for musicians and producers, particularly in niche genres. #AIMusic #MusicProduction #TechInnovation #AItools #CreativeTechnology
