For a Python/ Kivy project I'm working on at the moment (using PyCharm), I set up a postgreSQL database. When I try to install the psycopg2 adapter using the terminal $ pip install psycopg2 I am getting the error "error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1". The only thing that worked so far was installing the Binary from PyPI $ pip install psycopg2-binary. For running the project in PyCharm it works fine, since I could add psycopg2 and psycopg2-binary to my interpreter. But when I now try to run the project in Xcode and try to make it work on the iPhone simulator, the app will crash with the error no module named 'psycopg2' (main.py: import psycopg2). So I'll have to find a way to install psycopg2. Using the source code from github:
$ python setup.py build
$ python setup.py install
did not fix the problem - still facing the 'gcc' problem.

I am using: macOS Catalina 10.15.2 / Python 3.7.5 / postgres (PostgreSQL) 12.1
I am very new to all of this and run out of ideas pretty much. I want to run the project on my Phone later, so just using psycopg2-binary will not be the satisfying solution. Thank you!
ld: library not found for -lssl. You need to install openssl.$ brew install openssl. Managed to install psycopg2 now by using these approaches: stackoverflow.com/questions/26288042/… - still getting the Xcode error that the module psycopg2 was not found. pscopg2 is now installed in /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.7/lib/python3.7/site-packages (2.8.4). I do not know why it is still giving me the error in Xcode.
