I hosted my website using github pages and i have set a 404.html error page where i set a countdown timer which will redirect to the homepage in 15 sec so for the countdown clock i make this little animation(Code below(Run the Code Snippet)).

const FULL_DASH_ARRAY = 283;
const WARNING_THRESHOLD = 10;
const ALERT_THRESHOLD = 5;

const COLOR_CODES = {
  info: {
    color: "green"
  },
  warning: {
    color: "orange",
    threshold: WARNING_THRESHOLD
  },
  alert: {
    color: "red",
    threshold: ALERT_THRESHOLD
  }
};

const TIME_LIMIT = 15;
let timePassed = 0;
let timeLeft = TIME_LIMIT;
let timerInterval = null;
let remainingPathColor = COLOR_CODES.info.color;

document.getElementById("app").innerHTML = `
<div class="base-timer">
  <svg class="base-timer__svg" viewBox="0 0 100 100" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg">

      <circle class="base-timer__path-elapsed" cx="50" cy="50" r="45"></circle>
      <path
        id="base-timer-path-remaining"
        stroke-dasharray="283"
        class="base-timer__path-remaining ${remainingPathColor}"
        d="

I got this timer code from css tricks website so when i run it in my pc with visual studio code live server it works perfectly fine but after i upload it in github it doesn't shows that properly here is how it shows(https://www.rohittechzone.com/404.html) :Just a huge black circle

It shows this huge black circle but it worked in live server, I guessed there is some part in css which github pages cant compail but the other part of the css works(remaining part in my website):( Please help me fix it.

Thanks!

  • Github Pages are still just pages. There's nothing abnormal about them. It's more likely that one of the files you needed is either missing or mis-linked. Commented Oct 30, 2020 at 6:53

Works for me (firefox). In general css is just served from Github (or any other server for that matter) and run in your browser - same with javascript. Try to open it with the same browser you did the development. Or better try to open the development instance with the browser you are using for github

Just tested in Internet Explorer and it is working but in chrome it did not work but now i tried in incognito mode and it works! it it a problem with my browser catch or something?
That would be my guess - To clear the cache you need to hit ctl+shift+R
Yeah thanks it worked! is there any idea why this is caused?
You had cached a previous non-working version of the css. A browser wont download a css/js file if they already have, for improved performance. A simple fix people to is to append something (like release version) in order to avoid telling people to do a clean refresh.
yeah ok now i can get it!
