On Apple operating systems where the app runs in a sandbox,
the application can not access files outside of its sandbox
without explicit user approval.
This applies to iOS and friends, as well as optionally for
macOS (when the sandbox is enabled, which is a requirement
for publishing apps to the macOS App Store).
When the user gives explicit access to a file or directory,
we need to manage this access at runtime by starting and
stopping the access via startAccessingSecurityScopedResource
and stopAccessingSecurityScopedResource, and these functions
must be balanced, to avoid leaking kernel resources.
The access unfortunately doesn't persist automatically when
the application terminates (unlike takePersistableUriPermission
on Android), so we have to manually persist the access via
security scoped bookmarks. We store these inside the app's
own sandbox, in a way that limits the access to only that
application, so persisting them on behalf of the user should
be fine.
The persisted bookmarks are loaded in the background on
application start, ready for when the application wants
to open earlier accessed file or directories.
[ChangeLog][Apple] Sandboxed applications on Apple platforms,
(including macOS if opted in to) can now access files outside
of the application sandbox (so called security scoped resources)
for both reading and writing. Files or folders chosen by the user
via file dialogs or similar native mechanism are automatically
and transparently handled, including persistent access across
application and device restarts.

Many files related to QFileSystemEngine inspect of modify file names.
These can potentially come from untrusted sources and the files are
therefore marked as critical. Files without such code are marked
significant.

I'm surprised that this passed the CI on Windows, because
Q_AUTOTEST_EXPORT is Q_DECL_EXPORT, which is __declspec(dllexport) and
all dllexport'ed functions must be defined in the current DLL, not
imported from elsewhere. This is similar on Unix systems with the
no_direct_extern_access mode, because then Q_DECL_EXPORT behaves like on
Windows.
That means Qt modules can't call a Q_AUTOTEST_EXPORT function
from another module (only tests can). Solve this by providing a function
that is properly exported with Q_CORE_EXPORT.

This makes the ownership of the returned pointer clearer. It also
matches reality, some call sites were already storing the pointer in a
unique_ptr.
Also shorten the function name to "createLegacyEngine", you have to read
its docs anyway to figure out what it does.
Drive-by changes: less magic numbers; use sliced(); return nullptr
instead of `0`.

This is a semantic patch using ClangTidyTransformator as in
qtbase/df9d882d41b741fef7c5beeddb0abe9d904443d8, but extended to
handle typedefs and accesses through pointers, too:
const std::string o = "object";
auto hasTypeIgnoringPointer = [](auto type) { return anyOf(hasType(type), hasType(pointsTo(type))); };
auto derivedFromAnyOfClasses = [&](ArrayRef<StringRef> classes) {
auto exprOfDeclaredType = [&](auto decl) {
return expr(hasTypeIgnoringPointer(hasUnqualifiedDesugaredType(recordType(hasDeclaration(decl))))).bind(o);
};
return exprOfDeclaredType(cxxRecordDecl(isSameOrDerivedFrom(hasAnyName(classes))));
};
auto renameMethod = [&] (ArrayRef<StringRef> classes,
StringRef from, StringRef to) {
return makeRule(cxxMemberCallExpr(on(derivedFromAnyOfClasses(classes)),
callee(cxxMethodDecl(hasName(from), parameterCountIs(0)))),
changeTo(cat(access(o, cat(to)), "()")),
cat("use '", to, "' instead of '", from, "'"));
};
renameMethod(<classes>, "count", "size");
renameMethod(<classes>, "length", "size");
except that the on() matcher has been replaced by one that doesn't
ignoreParens().
a.k.a qt-port-to-std-compatible-api V5 with config Scope: 'Container'.
Added two NOLINTNEXTLINEs in tst_qbitarray and tst_qcontiguouscache,
to avoid porting calls that explicitly test count().

If a QFileInfo was constructed with an empty path, which could happen
with QFileInfo(QFile()) or via QDir, etc., then it would issue system
calls to empty paths and could even produce warnings. This commit makes
am empty path name be the same as a default-constructed QFileInfo and
corrects the use if 0 for ownerId and groupId to match the
documentation.
[ChangeLog][Important Behavior Changes] QFileInfo on empty strings now
behaves like the default-constructed QFileInfo. Notably, path() will now
be the empty string too, instead of ".", which means absoluteFilePath()
is no longer the current working directory.

The Unix stat fields "st_ctime" and "st_ctim" mean "change time", the
last time that the file/inode status fields were changed. It does not
mean "creation time". So this commit splits all of the internal API to

conflict.

POSIX does not require that readdir() be reentrant even for operations
on different dirent objects, but all implementations (according to the
glibc documentation) already do that. Moreover, it's not a good idea to
use readdir_r since the buffer space is limited by the caller, so
certain file names may be too long (ENAMETOOLONG) -- we had a workaround
for QNX, but for no other OS. According to the glibc documentation, it
is expected that POSIX will mark readdir_r obsolete and instead require
some form of reentrancy for readdir.
This commit makes everyone use readdir instead. The macros in
qplatformdefs.h are left behind in case someone else is using them.
With glibc 2.24, we started getting:
qplatformdefs.h:150:35: warning: ‘int readdir_r(DIR*, dirent*, dirent**)’ is deprecated [-Wdeprecated-declarations]
qfilesystemiterator_unix.cpp:112:17: note: in expansion of macro ‘QT_READDIR_R’

Replace deprecated File Manager APIs with modern equivalents.
Change some Q_OS_MACX to Q_OS_DARWIN in file system related code.
All of these apply to iOS as well as OS X, and were ifdef'ed for OS X
only primarily due to legacy reasons - carryovers from Qt 4 or Carbon
APIs which have since been refactored into using CoreFoundation.
This also makes the code consistent with the documentation.

As in the past, to avoid rewriting various autotests that contain
line-number information, an extra blank line has been inserted at the
end of the license text to ensure that this commit does not change the

This is the beginning of revision history for this module. If you
want to look at revision history older than this, please refer to the
Qt Git wiki for how to use Git history grafting. At the time of
writing, this wiki is located here:

If you have already performed the grafting and you don't see any
history beyond this commit, try running "git log" with the "--follow"
argument.
