Text-based games can be a great medium to test the emotional intelligence of the player. Emotional intelligence is the ability to infer personality traits of people through observation and interaction, and then predict their emotional reactions to certain events.
For example, if the player builds a rapport with an NPC and asks them about their family, they will learn that their relationship with their father. The NPC might not fully trust the player-character, so the player might have to read a bit between the line to build a picture of their relationship.
Later, the player might interact with the father of said character and have the option to either help him or harm him. A player with a high emotional intelligence should be able to tell how that would affect their relationship with the first NPC if they learned about this.
