I had the privilege this week of presenting at the 49th Annual Kansas Governor’s Conference for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in Wichita, KS, where I was honored to receive the Exemplary Service to Children and Families Award.
I usually have all the words. In this case, my words fail to adequately convey my deep gratitide.
The greatest gifts of my professional life have been the partnerships I have with so many champions across Kansas who are working individually and collectively to make better lives for Kansas kids and for Kansas families. This honor truly belongs to this collection of partners in prevention who come together every day to build better systems of family support.
The gains we have made together to make our systems and services better and more responsive to families, to help families get the support they need in their communities to remain strong, healthy, and safe, and to support well-being for all, bring me hope for the future.
It was my absolute honor to be recognized in this way, together with partners, colleagues, friends, and my family, in Kansas - the home of my heart.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Gail Cozadd, Victoria Roper, Trina Morgan, and all of Kansas Children's Service League for your ongoing partnership in prevention and for this incredible honor. I look forward to all the ways we will continue toward this mission together.
