I’m designing a page where individual survey responses are displayed for review. For example, if John fills out a survey form, this page will show all of his submitted answers. The page includes a summary section that highlights key information, and a detailed section that lists all the questions and John’s corresponding answers.
Some questions are straightforward, while others are nested, meaning follow-up questions appear based on John’s previous responses.
I’ve experimented with displaying these question-and-answer pairs in both table format and a vertical layout (with the question on top and the answer below). I’ve also used zebra striping to improve readability. However, it’s still difficult to follow when multiple nested questions are involved.
What would be the best possible UX approach to present this type of nested data clearly and effectively? Any suggestions are appreciated.
