enter image description here I’m designing a page where individual survey responses are displayed for review. For example, if John fills out a survey form, this page will show all of his submitted answers. The page includes a summary section that highlights key information, and a detailed section that lists all the questions and John’s corresponding answers.

Some questions are straightforward, while others are nested, meaning follow-up questions appear based on John’s previous responses.

I’ve experimented with displaying these question-and-answer pairs in both table format and a vertical layout (with the question on top and the answer below). I’ve also used zebra striping to improve readability. However, it’s still difficult to follow when multiple nested questions are involved.

What would be the best possible UX approach to present this type of nested data clearly and effectively? Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • Can you show how the questions are designed? I assume that you'll want to follow similar structure/design/logic to the questions if it makes sense, and if not then come up with a more optimized way to accommodate the variations to the answers, especially if there are complicated logic involved. More information will be helpful for coming up with possible solutions. Commented Nov 9 at 22:02
