Method call: Method format(java.time.LocalDate,java.lang.String) cannot be found on type org.thymeleaf.expression.Dates

Question

I have a problem when to use want to java8time expressions in thymeleaf. When I use #dates.format I have this error:

org.springframework.expression.spel.SpelEvaluationException: EL1004E: Method call: Method format(java.time.LocalDate,java.lang.String) cannot be found on type org.thymeleaf.expression.Dates

Please add the appropriate java8time support from Thymeleaf to enable this properly:

<dependency>
    <groupId>org.thymeleaf.extras</groupId>
    <artifactId>thymeleaf-extras-java8time</artifactId>
    <version>3.0.1.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>

Note that will allow you to use the temporals as noted in Github. To excerpt a relevant example from there:

${#temporals.format(temporal)}
