I tried using

Image.frombuffer('L', (498), ba, 'raw', 'L', 0, 1)

But, this gave an error saying 'size must be a tuple', I tried giving (498,0) and (0,498), this gave no error, but while saving the image there was an error as 'SystemError: tile cannot extend outside image'.

  • Try using a size of (498,1) Commented Oct 9, 2019 at 7:38
  • Thank you so much, but can you tell me what is '1' there? Commented Oct 9, 2019 at 9:00
  • Images are 2-dimensional shapes, so they must have a width and a height, e.g. 640x480 If your image is just a single line/row of pixels, it will have a height of 1. If your image is a single tall narrow column of pixels it will have a width of 1. So the 1 just means 1 pixel wide or tall. Commented Oct 9, 2019 at 9:02
  • oh got it, thanks. Commented Oct 9, 2019 at 9:07
  • Hi Mark, I am just getting a white line in black background, the data what I have got is finger template data, it does not have specific height and width, the size of the template is 498 bytes Commented Oct 10, 2019 at 5:04

You can try fromarray function

import numpy as np
image = Image.fromarray(np.array(ba).reshape(498,1))
