I have an incredibly annoying problem when using WebStorm IDE. When switching the keyboard layout and trying to type something in uppercase, or put brackets, or quotes, anything that requires holding down the Shift key, it seems to freeze for a microsecond. The editor makes a characteristic "beep" sound and does not print anything. You have to press the "Shift + something" combination two or three more times after changing the keyboard layout. Has anyone encountered this problem?

I tried to disable and enable sticky keys in Windows, tried to delete key combinations with shift in Webstorm itself, tried to disable automatic layout switcher, but nothing helps. Other code editors do not have this problem.

  • I'd suggest to contact JetBrains Support with this question. I'm on Windows 10 and never seen the described behaviour. Could be specific to your setup (hardware, drivers, versions, IDE plugins etc). To create the Support ticket, use Help | Contact Support from the IDE or just intellij-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/requests/… Commented Mar 30 at 12:11
