When I want to use my microphone on a website (say Google Meets), there are 2 places I can specify it:

  1. In the Gnome settings panel:

  1. In the website itself, on the browser (ie. https://webcammictest.com/check-mic.html):

Are there rules for how I should set these relative to each other? I notice that when I set them to the same input source, I cannot hear anything from the mic in the mic test website. Setting them to different sources seems to fix this. Do they have to be mutually exclusive?
