This issue occurs when trying to launch the debugger through the installed React Native Tools extension from Microsoft in VS code after following the instructions on creating a launch.json file in the .vscode folder in the root project folder.

To solve this issue, remember to add an entry in your launch.json with a key of "target" and a value equal to your emulator ID which can be found in XCode.
